New York City

The city is not a fixed entity—it expands, contracts, and evolves through layers of interventions. It is a massive organism built on additions, attachments, and improvisations. From makeshift stalls to scaffolding, from pop-up structures to hidden shortcuts, the urban landscape is shaped by how people adapt to it. In many ways, the city itself is a network of parasites—structures feeding off one another, extending beyond their intended purpose, finding new ways to coexist.

Clip is a response to this urban condition. A sitting structure that doesn’t demand space but instead borrows it. Designed through CNC fabrication, it avoids the permanence of traditional furniture by latching onto existing surfaces—walls, railings, ledges—turning them into functional seating with minimal effort. It embraces the spontaneity of urban life, where people repurpose what they find rather than build from scratch.

In this way, Clip is both practical and playful. It questions the role of furniture in the city, blurring the line between necessity and intervention, between function and humor. Like the city itself, it thrives on adaptability, proving that sometimes, the best way to belong is to simply clip on.
